Oh gods, where to start!!!!!!

Expect random Mys to be random, she’s not feeling the organizational side of herself today AT ALL, lol.

Christmas- survived it, no dead bodies other than the ham, so ‘s all good.
Pup liked her lame arse prezzie I got her, don’t ask I don’t feel like talkin’ about it, save to say I had plans that fell through and back-up plans that fell through, so yeah… blah
For those who haven’t heard me squeezing about it on Twitter or here (assuming I squeed about it here, lol) Mom ordered me a French Curve!!!!!! And yes I may seem over excited about this, but when you’re built like me altering patterns or creating your own is a must and therefore the French Curve is your friend. :P
Got to meet Fanboy’s dad, he’s pretty cool. :) Oh and when Fanboy came over, he asked if I’d actually watched any of Repo! The Genetic Opera yet (lookit side story, mania here we come, lol- last week he returned my Firefly DVDs and was all excited because I had this movie he’d been looking for but didn’t know the name of or anything, he’d only seen it once at a friend’s or something. Anyway, come to find out it’s that and for the life of me I don’t remember DLing it let alone burning it, lol, but it’s ASH so ‘m not totally surprised just very confused, lol.). When I told him I hadn’ty he took the first opportunity to take over Cas and feed me YouTube vids, lol. I love Fanboy. :D I also so got to freak him out ‘cause he wanted me to hear the song he’d been going on about being his and his dad’s song… just happens to be Clannad’s “I Will Find You” from Last of the Mohicans. This is only amusing if you know that I ADORE Clannad, have all their albums and Marie -and I really wish I could get the bloody umlauts to work when I wanted them to- Brennan’s, but don’t get me started on Enya, k, just don’t, AND I consider Clannad to be my Christmas music so I’ve been listening to them almost non-stop for weeks, lol. Anyway, before the music even starts I steal Cas back and show him what my JetAudio was playing before everybody showed up… the look on his face was priceless, lol.
Oh and this wasn't exactly a Christmas prezzie in the strictest sense, in that a) I'd known about it and b) it was only a matter of getting it here, but I got my prezzie from Aaliyah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She knows how much I want to go to con 'specially an SPN one and that because of where I am and my family sit I'll probably never get to go to one, so when she went to the NJ con she got me this and yes crappy pic is crappy, but that doesn't really matter now does it! :D *smiles and cries and hugs her prezzie and her Aaliyah type friend*

Pup wants me to read up on Aspie stuff- ‘to help with the kids’- so she got a bunch of books. I read one, and started another and totally got pissed at it, it was about girl Aspies and since HS is the biggest problem for me I figured it made sense to start there. Anyway, the thing has every chapter written by a different ‘expert’ in the field, well the first 2 chapts I’m good with, good info, nothing terribly new to me, but good none-the-less, 3rd chapt I wanna hit ppl ‘cause this chick is talking sense, but being completely unrealistic and the very idea that anyone could pose these ideas as being implicatable (yes, I know I just made up a word) is mindboggling. Got into a fight with Pup about that, her position being that the ideas were perfectly able to be implicated in Sweden and that was all that mattered- I kept telling her that was well and good but the book was written with a decidedly American lean and the particular author in question was writing as an American expert on what could be done in schools to better assist Aspies and Aspie girls in particular… just I can’t put stock in someone being so utterly unrealistic, makes me wonder if she has any concept of the reality of the world let alone the world she’s writing for/about. Anyway that wasn’t the part that pissed me off. That was the next chapt where this BITCH and I have no other word for her, goes on about how Aspies have to conform like there’s something wrong with them that they have to make themselves into something they’re not. I mean where the HELLS does she get off!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Sure, it might be easier to ‘fit in’ but no one has the right to tell anyone let alone someone with a dx that they have to change who they are. And the fact that this bitch is being touted as some sort of expert on the subject! I mean seriously!!!!!!!! Ugh, Pup kept asking me how I was getting along reading (she thought I was jumping in too fast with that book of course she says that after she throws the stack at me and tells me to start reading without so much as a suggestion of where to start *rolls eyes*) and I tell her I’m having trouble because I read like a paragraph and have to stop before I hit something. I wound up reading her passages and I swear she got almost as mad as I was, lol.
Anyway she convinced me to start reading one of the other books first so I’m trudging through it- it’s more generalized stuff, and I hate to say it, but I’m starting to see why she teases me about being an Aspie… (though I think she really needs to read the part of this book that talks about female Aspies tending to cope by means of imagination and their ability and tendency to take up writing fiction :P )

Because of the whole Aspie thing I’ve been working my way through more of Touched with Fire, I know it was almost a year ago, but it got tedious and my head was in other places again. Point is I’ve started back in and yeah I love the ways it talks about writers/artists and manic-depressives thinking. It makes me feel better, lol.
‘s also where I got the new name for the ‘Mys is a loon’ tag ‘s a quote referring to William Cowper noting the difference between being irreversibly insane and being, well, something else

It cannot be said that Cowper was ever a demented maniac: the worst that can be said of him was that he was sometimes sadly confused in the head.

Anyway, I like this description. :)

As for fic and fandom… blech… fic sucks both the writing of and the how it’s being received. :(
My deancas_xmas pieces have probably the fewest comments of ANY of the proffered fic so far, and no I really don’t care if that tells ppl what fic was mine, I can’t be bothered to care atm. On the upside, my giftee seemed to genuinely like them so… I think I already went on about how lousy my Secret Angel’s fic went over, though it was better than any of the other exchanges this season, lol. Arcana is… ok… considering how oddly my Spander goes over, I’ll take it- ‘s not as well as I would have hoped, but I’m not contemplating Hari Kari over it either, so… My merry_merthur on the otherhand… ugh, because of the way it’s set up I didn’t and don’t expect a lot of comments on, but my giftee could’ve at least pretended a little more! *rolls eyes* There’s an art to replying to fic that disappoints, I thought that was something that most of us knew. Ah, well, ‘m trying not to get too morose over that one- ‘trying’ being the operative word, lol. And I just wanna KILL merlin_santa ‘cause it’s just not coming! I’ve written 2 (very nice) drabbles (if I do say so myself) and one snippet trying to get something to come out for it. Now I’ve got something that might work if I can just get it to sort out where it’s going with the set-up it’s given me… sometimes I really hate my muses.

Now, I don’t normally do this (expound on other ppls fic), but I broke my own unwritten rule and read this x-over fic t’other day… ‘s not x-overs that I don’t do, it’s weird, unrealistic x-overs. This was of all things a Criminal Minds/Merlin x-over. Yes, I can hear the breaks screeching and cogs grinding as I type, but bear with me. It actually had an almost workable premise (and no cross-pollination pairings), the idea being that there were killings in Camelot and Merlin accidentally summoned the BAU team. See, you can almost see it working can’t you. Okay so, I’m reading and okay great well done scene with Reid absently going on about the theories of whether or not Arthur was in fact a real figure and Merlin being fascinated and Arthur being annoyed and yeah, fun so I’m almost on board with this when there is sudden Buffyness! Alright so it was useful Buffyness, but it was random Buffyness nonetheless (ohhh, look I can bounce between hyphens and single wordness, lol) so to quote the great Zaphod Beeblebrox “…ten out of ten for style, but minus several million for good thinking…” Still, it was relatively minor, so I keep reading and then, then, oh my, it could have been such a lovely thing, but then they go and they bugger up basic Reid knowledge 101 by having Rossi explain that Reid’s eidetic memory means he remembers everything he’s ever read, seen, or heard. I wanted to smack them, really I did. Because EVERYONE who knows their Reid knows that his eidetic memory doesnot include what he hears! And I find this even more insulting considering we learn this during the whole Tristan thing in 'The Fisher King', I mean, seriously, insult to injury much???? If you’re gonna bugger something up do not do it with information learnt in the bloody ARTHURIAN LEGEND eps of the show!!!!!!!!! *head desk and repeat*

There’s other r/l stuff, but it’s a little to close to home as it were and yeah, if I dump, I’ll dump in a nice locked post later. :P
